The Swarm having already secured a finals berth cruised past the Southern Stampede 6-1 on Saturday night to continue their unbeaten season.

A flowing first period saw few stoppages and no goals as both sides skated like the results didn’t mean anything.

In an another even start to the second period the Swarm were first to score through Josh Hay, only to have it cancelled out 6 minutes latter through Mark Shearer. However before the period ended the Swarm were up 3-1 via two well set up powerplay goals from Mitchell Oak blasts from the point.

The third period saw plenty of penalties from the Stampede as game started to get testy. The Swarm’s special teams started to dominate and eventually took the game away from the Stampede. First through a short handed goal by Ryan Grimes early in the third, followed by the 3rd and 4th powerplay goals of the night to Sebastian Dahlström and Mitchell Oak. Stampede goal Stephen Reid was eventually pulled with 5 minutes remaining in the game for Matt Swirtz.

Swarm goalie Zak Nothling had a solid appearance between the pipes stopping 27 of the 28 shots he faced.
