UPDATE 25TH AUGUST: Read the latest update here https://www.aiha.org.nz/aiha-covid-19-update-4th-september-2020/

Dear Members,

The AIHA Board of Directors met last night to discuss yesterday’s Government announcement regarding the COVID-19 Alert Levels in Auckland.

As of writing, the Alert Level status in Auckland is as follows:

  • Auckland to remain at Alert Level 3 until 11:59pm Sunday 30th August
  • Auckland to move to Alert Level 2 on 12:01am Monday 31st August until 11:59pm Sunday 6th September
    • During this time, a mass gathering limit of 10 people will be in place within Auckland

As such, the current Alert Levels and restrictions do not allow for a resumption of scheduled ice hockey activity.

On Sunday 6th September, the Government will review the situation and provide an update to the public.

The AIHA Board of Directors will meet on Sunday 6th September to discuss the latest Government update and will provide an update to its members as soon as possible.

At this stage, if the Government’s decision on Sunday 6th September is to move to Alert Level 1 immediately or within 48 hours of this announcement, or, to remain at Alert Level 2 but increase the limit on mass gatherings within Auckland from 10 to 100, AIHA intends to resume scheduled activity from the weekend of 12/13th September.

As previously, any resumption of scheduled activity is solely dependant on the Alert Level status and restrictions allowing for play to resume.

We continue to thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. We are working hard to resume ice hockey as soon as we can do so safely, and will continue to provide updates as we can.
