at the 2020 season resuming*

*Okay….may not actually be an AIHA member

We are pleased to announce that the 2020 ice hockey season is back on!

While ice hockey may look a little different to what you are used to for the near future, our aim is to deliver the same quality of ice hockey that you are used to, and for our playing leagues, our goal is to complete a full regular season of hockey for players in our Bantam, Junior and AHL leagues despite the late start to the season.

Please read below some very important information about what we need from you to resume to the 2020 season.

This includes requiring ALL PLAYERS to register their confirmation on whether they will be playing. You must register by Friday 5th June even if you do not intend to play in 2020. If you do not register your intent to play/not play, we will assume you are no longer playing in 2020 and your place on a team may be forfeited.

Click on the boxes below to read more information about your league and find out what you must do before you can play.

Learn to Play Programme - Click Here to Read More

Learn to Play Programme:

Learn to Play will temporarily be held during different time slots, due to requirements by the ice rinks to have a 30 minute buffer between sessions so they can clean/sanitise the facility and also to control numbers. The first two weeks of the schedule are:

  • Wednesday June 3 at Paradice Avondale 6:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Thursday June 4 at Paradice Botany – 6:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Monday June 8 at Paradice Avondale – 6:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Wednesday June 10 at Paradice Avondale – 6:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Thursday June 11 at Paradice Botany – 6:00pm – 7:00pm

Please make note of the time changes, these times will be in place until further notice. We will inform everyone when we can get back to the original time slots.

To reduce contact, players will continue to use their concession cards as normal and concession cards can be purchased but through EFTPOS/Credit Card payments only.

Players should bring their normal Learn to Play equipment, but must come to the rink dressed in all equipment except skates and helmets. At this time, players will not be permitted in to the ice rink until 10 minutes before their session starts, but we ask that you arrive early enough that we have time to record your attendance and clip your concession card. Player’s skates and helmets will need to be put on in the grandstands. When the session is over, players should only take their skates and helmet off before exiting the building and change outside / in their car.

Under the current gathering restrictions of Alert Level 2 (100 people), and because many LTP players require assistance from a parent/guardian to get dressed, we have put the following procedures and restrictions in place.

  • 40 players/goalies maximum per session
  • 40 parents/guardians (1 parent/guardian per player maximum allowed in the rink)
  • 6 on-ice coaches
  • 4 AIHA staff
  • 3 arena staff
  • = 93 people in total

You MUST register prior to each session. Only those who register in advance will be permitted to take part on the night. If you turn up and have not pre-registered, you will not be permitted inside. Registration is limited to 40 players/goalies and will be on a first come, first served basis. This is for number control and contact tracing purposes. Registrations will be opened on the Friday, for the following week’s sessions. The link to register will be emailed to all Learn to Play registered players each Friday.

U9/U12 Super League

There are currently 70+ players registered for the Super League. Under the current gathering guidelines of Alert 2, and with gatherings not permitted over 100 people, the Super League will need to wait until this number is increased prior to beginning the 2020 season.

The season start date will be advised once the current gathering limits are increased sufficiently, as at present, we cannot reasonably hold the Super League with the 100 person limit. At this stage our estimated season start date is late June; we will confirm an exact date when we know this.

We ask that you please re-register for the Super League at the link below, no additional payment is necessary, we would just like confirmation that everyone who has registered, still intends to play this season. Once we know registration numbers, the teams for each age group can then be put together and a schedule produced.

ALL PLAYERS must confirm their 2020 playing status at the following link, even if they do not intend to play. If you do not register using this form, we will assume you are no longer playing in the 2020 season and your place on a team may be forfeited. Registrations Close 5th June.

Bantam & Junior Leagues - Click Here to Read More

Bantam & Junior Leagues:

AIHA is aiming to complete a full regular season of hockey for players in Bantam and Junior leagues despite the late start to the season.  We are asking for your understanding as we will all have to accommodate changes to fit the regular season into a shortened number of months. Thank you to those who have already made partial or complete payment against your fees – these amounts will remain valid and if you have already paid your fees in full, no further league fees will apply.

The Bantam/Junior season will begin with two weeks of pre-season training prior to starting games. The pre-season trainings are included in the playing fees for the 2020 season. The updated payment schedule can be found below.

There are currently 80+ players registered in the Bantam/Junior leagues. Due to this, we ask that no parents/guardians enter the rink during training sessions. This will aid us in keeping the gather number below 100. When the gathering number increases, we will revisit this restriction and communicate it to everyone.

Players should bring their normal ice hockey equipment, but must come to the rink dressed in all equipment except skates and helmets. At this time, players will not be permitted in to the ice rink until 10 minutes before their session starts. Player’s skates and helmets will need to be put on in the grandstands. The changing rooms will be unavailable. When the session is over, players should only take their skates and helmet off before exiting the building and getting changed outside / in their car.

How can I check the fee status on my account?
You can view your current fee status by logging in to your ClubHub account here: ClubHub Login

I’ve already made a COMPLETE payment toward my 2020 fees, do I need to pay anything extra?
No. If you have already paid your fees in full, then there is nothing further for you to pay.

I’ve already made a PARTIAL payment toward my 2020 fees, do I need to pay anything extra?
Yes. You will need to pay any remaining fees as these are due on your account to continue playing.

I cannot play anymore during the 2020 season, can I receive a refund?
Yes, we will consider refunds to individuals on a case by case basis. AIHA has incurred significant costs already this season such as membership fees, ice fees, wages, equipment costs and day to day operational costs. Because of this, we may not be able to offer a 100% refund though we will do our best to make things fair for those who wish to receive a refund. Additionally, we ask that for those of you who are unable to play and are happy to do so, consider the possibility of a donation to the Club by not requesting a full refund of your fees.

How do I go about receiving a refund?
Contact us via email – info@aiha.org.nz – with your first and last name, phone number and playing league and reason for requesting a refund and we will respond to you as soon as possible.

If you do not register using this form, we will assume you are no longer playing in the 2020 season and your place on a team may be forfeited.
