Changes to Representative Ice Hockey Age Grades

The New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation has announced changes to the Representative Ice Hockey level age grades.

Summary:

U20 – U23: Full contact. Male. Age of eligibility 1999, 2000, 2001. Over age eligibility will include four Players per team maximum, born 1998, 1997, 1996 non NZIHL and NZIHL playing 6 or less games in the current season. Players will only be eligible when playing their own age group first and foremost. Player safety is paramount. This is up to the regions coaching staff and their discretion with a signed wavier from the player’s parent and coach if under age.

U18: Full contact. Male and Female. Age of eligibility born 2003, 2002, 2001. Under age players of size and ability will not be hindered or held back. Players will only be eligible when playing their own age group first. Player safety is paramount. This is up to the regions coaching staff and their discretion with a signed wavier from the player’s parent and coach if under age.

U15: Non Checking. Male and female. Age of eligibility born, 2006, 2005, 2004. Under age players of size and ability will not be hindered or held back. Players will only be eligible when playing their own age group first and foremost. Player safety is paramount. This is up to the regions coaching staff and their discretion with a signed wavier from the player’s parent and coach.

U12: Cross ice, Male and female. Age of eligibility born 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007 under age players of size and ability will not be hindered. Under players of size and ability will not be hindered or held back. Players will only be eligible when playing their own age group first and foremost. Player safety is paramount. This is up to the regions coaching staff and their discretion and coach.
